Our Mission

The Debbie Lewis Foundation is committed to uplifting Caribbean families through programs that strengthen socioeconomic stability, expand educational access, and support youth and community development. We provide culturally rooted resources and initiatives that create opportunities for families locally and throughout the diaspora.

Our Values

We envision a world where every Caribbean family has access to the tools, resources, and community support needed to thrive. Our long-term goal is to build stronger, more connected communities that preserve culture, empower families, and create pathways to generational stability and success.

Our Story: A Legacy Passed Through Generations

The Debbie Lewis Foundation began long before Debbie herself was born. On the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago, Debbie’s grandmother, Mable, spent every holiday season using whatever she had — even her last — to feed those living in community homes so they would never go without.

As the youngest of her siblings, Debbie grew up watching her own mother, Merle, continue those traditions and expand them even further. Merle became a pillar in her community, creating a neighborhood sports day and opening her home as a place where everyone felt welcomed, supported, and cared for.

Inspired by the women who raised her, Debbie carried these values into adulthood and into motherhood. She made it her mission to instill selflessness and compassion in her daughter. For several summers, Debbie traveled with her child to Trinidad to celebrate her birthday not with parties, but by visiting youth in orphanages — bringing clothing, essentials, and gifts collected from family and friends in America.

It was in these moments, surrounded by children who deserved love, resources, and opportunity, that the seeds of the Debbie Lewis Foundation were planted.

In 2023, that legacy of service, generosity, and community care officially became a nonprofit organization committed to uplifting Caribbean families and empowering the next generation.
